Gion Tsujiri Tokusen Tsubokiricha Sencha is a top-grade Japanese sencha crafted by the historic Kyoto tea house Gion Tsujiri (est. 1860). It represents the highest selection of sencha leaves, carrying both refined taste and strong cultural heritage.

This sencha is celebrated for its refined balance and elegance, offering a fresh, vibrant umami complemented by gentle natural sweetness. It is exceptionally smooth, with minimal bitterness or astringency, and finishes cleanly with a long, refreshing aftertaste.

🏺 Meaning of “Tsubokiricha”

Tsubokiri (壺切り) refers to the traditional ceremonial opening of sealed tea jars, historically reserved for the finest teas presented to tea masters, temples, and nobility.

In this context, it signifies exceptional quality, freshness, and prestige, even though sencha is typically a daily tea.
