Horii Shichimeien, founded in 1879 in Uji, Kyoto, is one of Japan’s most prestigious tea producers, famous for cultivating the last of Uji’s original seven tea gardens, Oku no Yama, tended for over 600 years. Today, under sixth-generation owner Chotaro Horii, it remains a guardian of Uji’s tea heritage, blending history, innovation, and craftsmanship.
Crafted in Uji from premium first flush tea leaves, Horii Shichimeien's Hojicha Powder is roasted immediately after processing to preserve its rich aroma and naturally mellow character. The blend also incorporates tencha stems, the same raw material used for matcha, adding exceptional depth and fragrance. The result is a smooth, finely milled powder with warm roasted notes, gentle sweetness and minimal bitterness or astringency.
Perfect for creamy hojicha lattes, iced drinks, baking, desserts and confectionery, it dissolves easily and delivers an authentic roasted tea flavour in every recipe.
