Horii Shichimeien, founded in 1879 in Uji, Kyoto, is one of Japan’s most prestigious tea producers, famous for cultivating the last of Uji’s original seven tea gardens, Oku no Yama, tended for over 600 years. Today, under sixth-generation owner Chotaro Horii, it remains a guardian of Uji’s tea heritage, blending history, innovation, and craftsmanship.

Freshly made from newest tea harvest, Kumpuu no Mukashi offers a vibrant and refined matcha experience. Its bright green colour gives way to a smooth, creamy cup with gentle sweetness, fresh vegetal notes, and a delicate umami finish.

How to Prepare

Sift 1–2 tsp of matcha into a bowl. Add 60–80 ml of hot water (80°C). Whisk in a zigzag motion until frothy. Enjoy it straight or add milk for a creamy matcha latte.
