Konomien is one of the most historically significant tea merchants in Yame, Fukuoka, with a heritage stretching back more than 300 years, founded during (1704–1710). While many tea companies focus on cultivation, Konomien is best known as a traditional tea wholesaler and merchant that played a pivotal role in establishing the reputation of Yame tea.

Yame Matcha is a tea that combines delicate umami with elegant natural sweetness. Carefully crafted from selected tea leaves, it offers a smooth, mellow flavour and a rich, nutty aroma.

One of the defining characteristics of many Yame matcha is the gentle roasted aroma, which creates subtle nutty and toasted notes not as commonly found in Uji matcha. This is the result of Yame's traditional finishing process and is one of the reasons the region has such a distinctive identity.

How to Prepare

Add approximately 2g of Yame Matcha (1–2 bamboo scoops) to your matcha bowl.
For an even smoother cup, sift the matcha through a fine sieve before whisking.
Gently pour 60–70ml of hot water (70–80°C) into the bowl.
Using the bamboo whisk, slowly stir the matcha in a small circular motion to fully dissolve the powder.
Raise the whisk slightly and whisk briskly using quick back-and-forth wrist movements until a fine layer of foam forms.
Once frothy, lift the whisk slightly and finish with a few gentle strokes to refine the foam, creating a smooth, creamy surface ready to enjoy.
