Kubo Komakichi is a Chasen Artisan from the famous Takayama village in Nara, where most of Japan’s traditional Chasen craftsmen are based. He is also the next generation in a family of Chasen craftsmen that stretches back over 500 years of history and refinement. Kubo Tatehiro is the youngest of the only 16 or so remaining chasen masters. These whisks are made from locally grown bamboo in the small village of Takayama in northwest Nara prefecture, famed as the only chasen making village in Japan.
