Tea Schools Favored Matcha Shohaku

Pure | Graceful | Ceremonial-Grade

Marukyu Koyamaen "School Favoured Matcha" refers to a line of high quality, ceremonial grade matcha teas that are specifically developed in collaboration with leading Japanese tea schools, such as Urasenke and Omotesenke. These partnerships ensure the matcha meets the specific requirements for formal tea ceremonies and traditional education, resulting in a high quality product with a distinguished flavor profile and cultural significance.

Shōhaku is a matcha selected by the Urasenke School of Tea, embodying the enduring spirit and quiet strength symbolised by evergreen trees in Japanese culture. This ceremonial grade matcha reflects Urasenke’s deep rooted aesthetic of harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility.

Cultivated in the legendary tea growing region of Uji, Kyoto, Shōhaku is crafted from the finest early spring leaves, shaded to intensify their sweetness and traditionally stone-ground to preserve their delicate structure. The result is a smooth, balanced matcha with refined umami and a clean, lingering finish.

How to Prepare

Sift 1–2 tsp of matcha into a bowl. Add 60–80 ml of hot water (80°C). Whisk in a zigzag motion until frothy. Enjoy it straight or add milk for a creamy matcha latte.
