Tea Schools Favoured Matcha Kissho : Pure | Graceful | Ceremonial-Grade

Marukyu Koyamaen is one of Japan’s most prestigious tea manufacturers, founded in 1704 in Uji, Kyoto, the heart of Japanese tea culture. Family owned for over 300 years, the company is known for preserving traditional tea cultivation and processing methods.Marukyu Koyamaen supplies top tea schools, temples, and shrines, and has earned numerous awards, including multiple first-place wins at Japan’s National Tea Competition. Their matcha is widely regarded as some of the finest in the country for both ceremony and everyday enjoyment.

Marukyu Koyamaen "School Favoured Matcha" refers to a line of high quality, ceremonial grade matcha teas that are specifically developed in collaboration with leading Japanese tea schools, such as Urasenke and Omotesenke. These partnerships ensure the matcha meets the specific requirements for formal tea ceremonies and traditional education, resulting in a high quality product with a distinguished flavor profile and cultural significance.

Katsura no Sato is a ceremonial grade Uji matcha favoured by Shihosai, the Grand Tea Master of the Sohenryu school of Japanese tea ceremony. Carefully crafted from high quality Kyoto tea leaves, it reflects the refined and balanced style of this respected tea tradition.

Katsura no Sato offers a mild, smooth flavour with gentle sweetness, soft umami and very little bitterness. Its creamy texture and clean finish make it an approachable matcha that is equally enjoyable for experienced tea drinkers and those discovering ceremonial matcha.
