Tsuji Riichi Honten - Ceremonial Okumidori Single Origin Matcha (First Harvest & Freshly Ground)

Matcha Direct is operated by Tsuji Riichi Honten, a historic Kyoto based tea company founded in 1860 in Japan’s most renowned region for matcha production. Building on this rich heritage, they have become one of Japan’s most respected and well known matcha brands.

This is a single-origin matcha made exclusively from Uji grown Okumidori. It offers a soft, milky aroma and a creamy mouthfeel rich in umami. A moderate bitterness adds structure, while the finish is clean and refreshing. With minimal astringency or off-notes, it's enjoyable straight and also pairs beautifully with milk for lattes. A well balanced matcha in both flavour and colour.

This matcha is first harvest and specially requested and made to order for us. The quality of matcha depends not only on the ingredients but also on its freshness. Once ground, matcha gradually changes in character, so the fresher it is, the cleaner and more refined the flavor, making it far more enjoyable to drink.
