Yamamasa Koyamaen is a traditional and historic tea company based in Uji, Japan, founded in 1861. They are well regarded for maintaining very high standards for their raw material, processing, and stone milling, and have won first prize 22 times at Japan's National Tea Competition.
"Special A" is a high quality culinary grade matcha offers a rich, robust matcha flavour with pronounced umami and a subtle bitter edge, making it perfect for drinks where matcha’s taste needs to stand out.
This is matcha for confectionery and bread making. Compared to matcha for drinking (for tea ceremony), it has a bitter and astringent taste, with a powerful flavor that stands up to other ingredients.
